Application scenarios
The iron and steel metallurgical industry has a relatively large demand for industrial nozzles. The main functions of nozzles in the iron and steel industry are cooling and dust removal. This is an essential process in the iron and steel metallurgical process. There are many nozzles that can be used in the steel and metallurgical industry, such as fan nozzles, spiral nozzles, etc. The following are the application scenarios of nozzles in steel plants and commonly used types of nozzles in steel plants:

2. Types of nozzles in steel plants
The working environment in the steel and metallurgical industry is relatively harsh, so not all nozzles are suitable for use in this field. Due to the differences in production processes and working environments, the nozzles used in each stage are different. Therefore, after continuous testing and industry experience, the following types of nozzles can be used in the steel industry:
1. Conical nozzle
2. Fan-shaped nozzle
3. Spiral nozzle
4. Air atomizing nozzle
5. Water mist nozzle
6. High pressure cleaning nozzle
3. Use of nozzles in steel plants
It is not difficult to see from the application of nozzles in the steel industry that their main uses are three points: cooling, dust removal, and phosphorus removal. These three points will be used in the steel production and smelting process. Usually the nozzles will be arranged in the cooling systems and phosphorus removal systems of continuous casting machines and rolling mills. The following are the specific uses of nozzles in steel plants:
1. Continuous casting cooling:
Whether it is a thick slab, a thin slab, a normal slab, a bloom, a round billet, or a small billet, the spray crystallizer must be cooled by water spray from the nozzle. The performance of the nozzle and whether it is replaced in time will have a decisive impact on the solidification quality of the slab, production accidents, equipment maintenance and energy consumption.
2. Converter flue gas cooling and dust removal:
Regardless of wet or dry dust removal, the flue gas must be sprayed with water first to lower its temperature. The consequences of the nozzle's failure to atomize are that the amount of water sprayed increases as the system resistance increases; the fan cannot pump the furnace mouth due to high system resistance, causing red smoke from the chimney, excessive dust, and the dust also adheres to equipment such as fan blades and gas system valves.
3. Electric furnace flue gas cooling and dust removal:
Flue gases such as electric furnaces and blast furnaces must also be cooled before entering the dust removal equipment. The temperature can be lowered by adding cold air, vaporized water cooling and mechanical air cooling, but it is more economical to spray water from a nozzle to achieve dry cooling.
4. Flue gas desulfurization:
The flue gas emitted from coal-fired boilers, sintering machines, coke ovens and other furnaces in power plants not only contains dust, but also sulfur dioxide, which is strictly restricted by environmental protection. It can be removed efficiently and firmly with a nozzle.
5. Dust control:
Many processes in the steelmaking production process produce a large amount of dust, such as iron mixing, scrap steel addition, steel tapping, slag pouring, bulk material loading and unloading, etc. Water spraying is the simplest and easiest solution.
6. High pressure descaling:
Use water with high pressure (10MPa ~ 50MPa) to remove the oxide scale on the surface of steel plates and steel strips.
