Multistage centrifugal pump types:

1. According to appearance:

① Horizontal multi-stage centrifugal pump: It looks like it is lying horizontally. The connection method is arranged longitudinally on the base, and it occupies a large area.

② Vertical multi-stage centrifugal pump: It is vertical in appearance, and the connection method is superimposed from bottom to top, occupying a small area.

2. According to the inhalation method:

①Single-suction centrifugal pump: There is a suction port only on one side of the impeller, and the liquid flows into the impeller from one side. The impeller of this type of pump is easy to manufacture and widely used. The disadvantage is the existence of axial force.

②Double-suction centrifugal pump: There are suction ports on both sides of the impeller, and liquid enters the impeller from both sides. Under the same conditions, the flow rate is doubled compared to that of a single-suction pump. Since the impeller structure of the double-suction pump is symmetrical, there is no axial force and the operation is relatively smooth.

3. According to the way the liquid coming out of the impeller is directed to the extrusion chamber:

① Volute pump: After the liquid comes out of the impeller, it directly enters the spiral-shaped pump casing.

② Guide vane pump: After the liquid comes out of the impeller, it enters the guide vane outside it, and then enters the next stage or flows into the discharge port.

Commonly used models of multi-stage centrifugal pumps include D type, DG type, MD type, DF type, DY type, etc. In different fields, multi-stage centrifugal pumps have different performance parameters, such as media, application scenarios, etc., and their models are all different.

● D-type pump: used to transport clean water or liquids with physical and chemical properties similar to clean water that does not contain solid particles and has a temperature not higher than 80°C. It is suitable for use in mines and urban water supply and drainage projects.

● DG type pump: used to transport clean water or liquid with physical and chemical properties similar to clean water that does not contain solid particles and has a temperature not higher than 105°C. It is used for boiler water supply or transporting hot water or hot water-like media.

● MD type pump: used to transport neutral mineral water with a solid particle content of no more than 1.5% (particle size less than 0.5 mm) and other similar sewage. The temperature of the transported medium is no higher than 80°C. It is suitable for steel plants, mine drainage, sewage transportation and other occasions.

● DF type pump: for transporting corrosive liquids with temperatures ranging from -20°C to 105°C, containing no solid particles.

● DY type pump: used to transport oil and petroleum products that do not contain solid particles, have a temperature of -20°C to 150°C, and a viscosity of less than 120 centistokes.

Working principle of multi-stage centrifugal pump:

In the operation process of a multi-stage centrifugal pump, the liquid flow rate at the outlet of the back blade is small and the flow direction is basically consistent with the axial direction. Then, due to the suction effect caused by the next rotation of the impeller, the liquid speed increases and enters the next stage impeller. It can be seen that the guide vane plays the role of decelerating and pressurizing the pressure water chamber, and at the same time plays the role of the water suction chamber to introduce the liquid to the next stage impeller.

The static pressure value of the medium in the centrifugal pump increases as the number of stages increases, and its distribution trend is consistent with the actual operation of the multi-stage centrifugal pump. Multi-stage centrifugal pumps use the high-speed rotation of impellers at each stage to perform work on the liquid in sequence. Each time the liquid flows through one stage, the energy increases until the energy at the final stage impeller reaches the maximum value, and the energy conversion is finally completed.
